Get Involved

There are many ways you can get involved at LeConte-Woodmanston.

We always welcome new foundation members. If you think you would like to join us, please go to our "membership" page.

Or maybe you can make a financial contribution to assist us in making our vision of the future a reality. Our "contributions" page will assist you in that regard. Make sure you designate whether the contribution is for the Memorial Project or for Ongoing Operations.

Of course, there are many other ways you can help.

You could become a volunteer. Your time and talents are needed now more than ever. For instance, volunteer to be a guide at the site from 10am to 3pm Tuesday through Saturday. Volunteer one day a week or one day a month - whatever works out best for you. Or come out to the site on Tuesday - our main work day. John, our site director, always welcomes assistance with gardening, construction, repairs and much more. In addition to helping us out you'll experience the plantation's beauty first hand.

Researchers, for names of enslaved individuals on Liberty County plantations circa 1860, are needed. We are also gathering oral histories from descendants of those enslaved. If you are a slave-holder descendant and have documents (wills, inventories, tax returns, etc.) from that time, that information would also be helpful.

If you or someone in your family has something you've heard was originally part of Woodmanston Plantation, we'd sure like to take a look at it. It was common for old plantations, as they were abandoned after the Civil War, to be "disassembled" and "recycled."

Are you a person with technical or engineering expertise? We'd definitely welcome your assistance. We are in the process of re-costing items from the Master Plan and dealing with logistics and environmental issues as they present themselves.

If you can volunteer or assist us in any of the areas mentioned, please contact us.
